LUCKILY that isn't necessary. As the last of you step through, the fog suddenly parts under a strong, sourceless gust of wind, spreading and dissipating, revealing the arched Japanese bridge everyone is standing on, and beyond it is a red tori gate guarded by (ordinary) stone lions.
Stepping past the gate brings you to a paved clearing edged with forest. Opposite of you is a wall (http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd290/ceesoo/SabraLaTau/shrine_gates.png), the overhang making it impossible for a normal person to climb over, though one might be able to peep through crisscrossing beams holding up the overhang. Set in it is another gate, this one with doors, which seem to be bolted on the other side. At least there doesn't seem to be any guards aside from more big statues of stone lions?
