The complex is very much made up of traditional Japanese buildings. Those of you from Japan may recognize that it is the grounds of a shrine. You are in the living quarters, away from the main worship areas. Wooden walkways and paper screens greet you as you near the building.

Something in the area smells delicious.

Toki also seems to be interested in food! Or at least, he's heading towards the kitchens as soon as he realizes they're close to them...

The kitchen is full of activity, a lot of bald-headed monks are busy chopping ingredients or stirring things in pots and pans on the earthen stoves. Some pots have wooden covers on them while the contents simmer, others have stacks of bamboo boxes sitting on them to steam. Baskets of all kinds of ingredients line the walls. Cutting boards are hung here and there along with spatulas and spoons and knives and all manner of cooking utensils. It's bustling, but there's something a little unreal about it all...

In the middle of all this is Kon, with a towel tied over his head to keep his hair out of the way as he works.

Sorry, but it'd be unseemly to have a guest cook when we've got plenty of staff on duty. Anyway, you still shouldn't be wandering around unsupervised.
